BLACK ROSE È ON LINE!

27/11/20

Ringrazio me stesso perché so ancora come sorprendermi.

A mia madre - Black Rose

I am very happy with this work, I like how it sounds, delicate with a few touches of aggression here and there. The embryonic ideas of the songs contained in this collection were all written a long time ago, between the end of high school in Syracuse and the beginning of university in Rome.

Then, for many years they remained inside a hard disk collecting dust, until during the period of the first lockdown, I had time and opportunity to discover them again, immediately feeling the need to restructure them. The name of the album, Black Rose is also the opening song of the collection and is, most likely, the main theme of the whole album, a black rose that could indicate a damned love or perhaps a state of restlessness and sentimental imbalance.

Michele Battaglia thought about portraying me on the cover once again, with whom the partnership started three years ago continues bringing to the surface very interesting ideas like this one. The mask symbol of this pandemic and this psychological condition that has been going on for almost a year now but which has given me the opportunity to be productive and to transform the disaster into something beautiful. A mask that is about to be put on or about to be taken off.

But in the meantime I wanted to thank the staff of the Futura |  Studio Recording & Production, Lorenzo Coriglione who followed the work, from recording to mixing and Umberto Ferro who supervised everything.

Thanks for your assistance and for your valuable advice.

Then I thank Matteo Blundo, who gave me some thrilling violin tracks in a particular song, “Chocolate”, the warmest and most “embroidered” of the collection.  Thanks also to Michele Battaglia who took care of the image of the new look, the shot below is of him.  Finally, I thank myself because I continue to give myself songs and emotions that make me proud to be a songwriter, proud to speak the musical language by making free choices, free from the market and its absurd wicked dynamics.  I thank myself because I still know how to surprise myself.
